Fandom: Transformers Live Action Franchise
Character Notes:
History:
Mikaela was born and raised in Mission City. As soon as she could walk, she was tinkering with cars - learning things about them. She inherited a natural talent from her father, and from an early age was helping him repair stolen cars, and even helping steal them herself. When she was 16, he went to jail for grand theft auto, and she was left at home with her mom. With that kind of early juvenile record, and more paper arrests and one-nighters at the station than she cared to count, she had learned what to keep from her friends at school and what not to. This led her to realizing that she should keep her savvy for cars secret and just stick to playing the airhead, bitchy It Girl. Which she played well. She dated the hot, muscled jocks for a while there.

Then, in her senior year, when she'd had it with her latest boyfriend Trent, she met Sam Witwicky. Who had the coolest effing car she had ever seen in her life, which turned out to be a giant robot. In the short time after meeting Sam, she learned a lot about herself and about him. It wasn't about who had the biggest biceps anymore, it was about understanding each other. They started dating. After Megatron had been defeated and dropped in the middle of the ocean to become coral, life settled into some semblance of normality. Sam was getting ready for college, Mikaela started up a mechanics shop with her newly-paroled father, and she set to trying to convince Sam to tell her he loved her. First. Before she had to. Well, as it turns out, Sam died on her for a good five minutes, and she wound up saying it first. But, she got it out of him nonetheless, which is all that mattered to her. I'll be taking her from after the end of Revenge of the Fallen, so Sam is back at college, Mikaela is working as a mechanic, their relationship is secure, and everything is right in the world again.

I tried to skim over the details of the movies to avoid spoilers, but if you'd like more thorough details, I'd be happy to provide.

Personality:
Mikaela is, more or less, your stereotypical popular teenage girl - at first glance. She dresses to get attention, she dates the jocks because they're good looking, even though they treat her like shit, and she doesn't try to act intelligent. But, there's a lot more to her than meets the eye, you could say. She has a pretty cynical, pessimistic outlook because of everything that happened with her father, and she knows full and well that people don't take her seriously. At the beginning of the movie, she's fine with that, but as she gets to know Sam and realizes that there are people who could appreciate her for who she is - all of who she is - that changes. She gains just a little bit more self respect.

And, in the second movie, she gets just a little bit softer. The tough outer, bitchy shell deteriorates some and she shows that she's really a vulnerable person who wants to be cared for. Her biggest weakness is that she feels this immense shame over her father's imprisonment, though as he begins to rehabilitate in the shop in the second movie, that seems to have dissipated some. She's a strong person in general, though. She's seen a lot, she's known sacrifice, and she's become a better person because of it. She deals with a lot of stuff on her own, because since her dad went to jail she has been helping her mom out with a lot of things. She was forced to grow up pretty early - maturing at an early age by helping her dad carjack before she knew what it was, and continuing even afterward. Her biggest flaws are her shallowness and her tendency to be abrasive and elitist - she hung out with the "popular" crowd in high school and that mindset still hasn't entirely worn away.

She's terrible, and it's shown especially well in the second movie when Sam is trying to use the Matrix to revive Optimus, at always looking on the darker side of things. She always has to ask the "what ifs" and second guess and assume the worst of the situation. She needs the confirmation that there's a back up plan in case it all goes to shit, mostly because she has had so many experiences with exactly that.

Other: Third person sample was taken from my application for DaisyChain, if you'd like a supplementary sample, I'd be happy to provide.

First Person (entry type):
Ugh, Sam, I'm going to punch you the second you get back down here. I can't believe you left 'Bee. Again. Does that really sound fair to you? He saves your butt and gets stuck in the garage. Whatever, I'll treat him well and we'll see if he decides to go back to you when you come back for good.

And, I'm pretty sure you still owe me that webcam-date. I'm not accepting decepticons as an excuse for ditching me this time. Which reminds me: I didn't leave Wheelie with you, did I? I can't find him anywhere and if he's trying to get in the safe again, I'm going to torch his other eye out.

--Nevermind, he just knocked over the sander. I'll talk to you later! [kissing noise] I love you.

Third Person:
For all the effort she was putting out to continue telling herself that she'd been in situations this bad before, that she should just stay calm and find somewhere far away from the giant thing, Mikaela Banes was having a hard time listening to her own - admittedly incredibly good - advice. Her eyes were squeezed tight and she was pressed into the crevasse of an apartment complex's doorstep, frozen. Was this New York? What happened? The ground was shaking. She tried not to think about it, try not to think about it, that did not look like any Decepticon she'd ever seen. Stay out of sight. That was all she had to do. But, what if it had a heightened sense of smell? What if it could see and the dark and knew she was there and those earthquakes were actually it coming for her? The possibilities reeled through her mind until finally she spun and was pounding on the door of the apartment complex. God dammit. She was far enough away, logically, that the monster was barely visible over the skyscrapers. Logically, she knew she would be fine. Logically, she knew it was impossible that it would see her because she was tiny and alone and hidden in a crevasse. Emotionally, she was torn.

Just when she'd calmed herself down enough to slump against the door again, eyes shut, pulse softening to a moderate thud instead of a speedy machine gun pace, she heard clicking. Tap, tap, tap. Like skittering, almost. Her eyes snapped open - decepticon? - and she reached for the closest weapon she could find - nothing. This wasn't the workshop. And, that wasn't a decepticon. A crab-like monster, but about ten times bigger, was crawling down the street. She stopped breathing. Blue eyes locked on the monster. No amount of broken street lights would make her vision poor enough to miss that. It looked for a moment like it was going to pass, and Mikaela released a relieved breath. It stopped short, turned, and came crawling up - faster now, than it had been moving before - the stairs after her.

She froze up at first, then hurried over the concrete barrier between the porch and the street, landing hard on her feet. The crab was close behind, but she kept running. It was closing in. Her heart jumped out of her chest, and her lungs pleaded for more air than they were getting, but her feet kept moving. There - a warehouse. Not the safest place in Manhattan on any usual day, but given the circumstances, she'd take what she could get. It was hard, once she got inside, to get the door to slide shut. She cracked the crab against the doorway in the process, catching it between the closing door and the wall. It squirmed for a moment, then she repeated the process and it seemed stunned. Sliding the door open again, she kicked it out of the building and then yanked the door shut, dropping the latch and pressing her back against it.

Safety. For now. Until morning came and she had to go find somewhere to eat or someone to tell her what the hell was going on.

OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD!!!!!

Is anyone hurt? No one, got, like, stomped on or blown up right? That thing was HUGE, big enough to give Megatron compensation issues. I've never seen anything like it. If anyone needs, like, supplies and can't get to the supply center, I can bring stuff, or... I don't know. Anything. Seriously.

I guess this is a really, really bad time to ask if I can check your car out, huh, Mac?

bitch i will saw you in half
You've got to be kidding me! When I said I wanted to go to New York, I meant for vacation, not when there was an infestation of creepy... whatever those things were. Crabs? Bugs? I don't even know. Are you people serious?

I can't even get web access for sites outside of Manhattan, what's with that? I'd really like to check my e-mail, and Sam's probably totally worried.

But anyway, while I'm at a computer away from the skeevy crabs, does anyone know what the deal is? I mean, you'd think stuff like this would be on, like, the news or something. GOD I don't even know if anyone is reading this - HELLO? There's gotta be someone else who got stuck on this stupid island.

[ooc; Mikaela grabbed a crowbar and broke into a crappy apartment, where she is now barricaded. K? TELL ME IF I AM DOING IT WRONG.]

[IC Information]
Character Name: Mikaela Banes
Series: Transformers
Gender: Female
Age: 18
Sexuality: Heterosexual

Species: Human

Appearance: Mikaela is pretty much smoking hot, to be entirely honest. She has bright blue eyes, dark hair, bold eyelashes, full lips, curves like no other and legs up to Canada. She's a little above average height at 5'5" and has darkly tanned skin. She's thin, but by no means scrawny. Working in a mechanics shop has done well for her and she has rather toned muscle in her legs and arms. Alternatively, have some picture reference.

Personality: Mikaela is, more or less, your stereotypical popular teenage girl - at first glance. She dresses to get attention, she dates the jocks because they're good looking, even though they treat her like shit, and she doesn't try to act intelligent. She needs the confirmation that there's a back up plan in case it all goes to shit, mostly because she has had so many experiences with exactly that.

Abilities: She has no supernatural abilities, but she's highly skilled in mechanics. Anything from repairing a transmission to replacing a fuel converter to carjacking, she's your go-to girl. She can listen to a car and tell you what's not working as well as it should. She's also very capable of defending herself. She takes a table saw to a decepticon in the first movie, and a blowtorch to Wheelie in the next. She consistently shows that she is very much physically able.

Manhattanite or outsider? She's being pulled from the world of Transformers, post-Revenge of the Fallen.

Anything else we should know? The song is Hard To Live In the City by Alfred Hammond Jr.

In-Game Backstory: Mikaela was born and raised in Mission City. As soon as she could walk, she was tinkering with cars - learning things about them. She inherited a natural talent from her father, and from an early age was helping him repair stolen cars, and even helping steal them herself. Then RotF happens.

Anyway, ideally, I'll be taking her from in between TF2007 and Revenge of the Fallen. She moved to New York to be closer to Sam while he was in college, and started working at a mechanic shop in Brooklyn, getting an apartment on her own.

Third Person Sample: Exempt

Questions;

Set I.

Who or what, if anything, would you die for?
Wow, you guys are, like, really straight to the point, huh? All right. Well, I mean, probably my dad and Sam, they're the people who mean the most to me.

What is your guilty pleasure?
Omg, you know those commercials for the cake stuff that you just, like, microwave and put the caramel sauce on and eat? They're so good, but they go straight to your butt.

If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
You know what would be super cool? Being able to make, like, electromagnetic pulses to stop whatever electronics and stuff were in the area. Seriously, just think about what you could do with that! You'd be totally unbeatable. It's a little creepy, actually.

Which would you rather give up: television or books?
I dunno, I don't really read that much and I'm kind of a junkie for 90210... So, probably books. Does that include, like, car manuals though? 'Cause you kind of need those.

If you could commit any felony with impunity, which would it be?
Wow if you'd asked me, like, a couple years ago, I would've totally said grand theft auto, but 'Bee is a way nicer car than any of the ones I jacked, so I can't really think of anything.

If you were on the Titanic and there was only room for one person on your lifeboat, would you save your mother or your best friend?
I know you'll probably think like way less of me for this, but I'd save my best friend for sure. My mom was hella bitchy.

Would you sleep with your boss to keep from losing your high-end job?
No way, that's sick. You might as well, like, do it for money, you know? It's the same thing.

Set II.

Describe your first kiss.
Believe it or not, it was pretty disappointing. I was in like seventh grade and this guy decided to pick wildflowers - they were more like weeds, really - and tell me he was in love with me. He tried to plant one on me and he headbutted me the first time, then he like gave it another shot and ran. I felt dizzy the whole next class and my teacher kept yelling at me for it, it was totally stupid.

Describe the most difficult experience you have ever had to deal with.
Man, I hate questions like these 'cuz I always feel like I'm complaining. My dad taught me how to fix cars like I do, except the ones we worked on weren't always his. He was in prison for GTA up until, like, a couple months ago. It was tough being, like, alone and stuff, but I was all right - the last time he went in was when I was, like, 16, anyway.

Describe a situation in which you took charge.
Probably when all that crap was going down in Mission City and I had to get Lennox to help me hook 'Bee up to the tow truck and drag him around to shoot down the decepticons.
